EEU Specification for GC (Gas Chromatograph)
Reference Specification for test setup having GC (Gas Chromatograph) with HEAD SPACE AUTO SAMPLER to carry out Dissolved Gas Analysis of insulating oils as per International Standard ASTM-3612-02 Method - C
1.1 Scope:
Including Supply, Installation, commissioning, training and actual sample testing at our laboratory at Cottobie.
1.2 Test Set up
An automatic and comprehensively computer controlled GC with Head Space auto sampler.
Auto-Sampler
The Auto-sampler should have a programmable oven with multiple temperature settings, mechanical shaking for vials, built in flow control, Necessary interface connection with GC, software controls compatible with GC and it shall be operated with single phase, 50 Hz, 230 V supply.
GAS CHROMOTOGRAPH:
This GC is mainly required for Qualitative and Quantitative analysis and shall work in conjunction with Head Space Sampler as specified in ASTM D-3612/2002, Method "C". Also shall meet minimum detection limits mentioned in the said standard and completely programmable / controllable / data collection through common software. Also a built in Key pad and display shall be available for easy operation
The GC shall have
• A suitable and spacious oven (to house all the columns) shall be available with various temperature programmes.
• Various heated zones shall be available for inlets and detectors.
• Inlets (one to carry out DGA and another to carry out calibration directly) as per the standard
• Detectors like FID and TCD as per the standard.
• Electronic pressure and flow Control of various gasses.
• All necessary flow/pressure sensors shall be available. One complete set shall be given as spare.
• Necessary communication from PC to instrument for control/data transfer.
• A set of columns as specified in the standard shall be in built with GC.
• A suitable catalytic converter as per the standard for converting CO and CO2 to CH4.
• All necessary adopters for interconnecting columns and to connect head space system to GC.
• Shall be operated with single phase, 50 Hz, 230 V supply.
