ASTM D5186 Determination of Aromatic Content and Polynuclear Aromatic Content
ASTM D5186 Standard Test Method for Determination of the Aromatic Content and Polynuclear Aromatic Content of Diesel Fuels and Aviation Turbine Fuels By Supercritical Fluid Chromatography
12. Report
12.1 Report the mass percent of monoaromatics, polynuclear aromatic hydrocarbons, and total aromatics to the nearest one tenth of a percent (0.1 %).

13. Precision and Bias
13.1 The precision of the procedure in this test method as determined by the statistical examination of interlaboratory test results is as follows.
13.1.1 Repeatability - The difference between successive results obtained by the same operator with the same apparatus under constant operating conditions on identical test material would, in the long run, in the normal and correct operation of the test method, exceed the following values only in one case in twenty (see Tables 3 and 4).
Repeatability = 0.16 (X)0.23 mass % for total aromatics,
= 0.16 (X)0.16 mass % for polynuclear aromatics where X is less than 5 mass %,
= 0.36 (X)0.13 mass % for polynuclear aromatics where X is greater than 10 mass %.

13.1.2 Reproducibility - The difference between two single and independent results obtained by different operators working in different laboratories on identical test material would, in the long run, exceed the following values only in one case in twenty (see Tables 3 and 4).
Reproducibility = 0.75 (X)0.23 mass % for total aromatics,
= 0.47 (X)0.45 mass % for polynuclear aromatics where X is less than 5 mass %,
= 1.77 (X)0.50 mass % for polynuclear aromatics where X is greater than 10 mass %.

13.2 Bias - Reference materials for this test method which can be used as a measure of the test method's bias, are being developed.
