ASTM D2320 Test Method for Density (Relative Density) of Solid Pitch (Pycnometer Method)
14. Report
14.1 Report the relative density of the pitch to the third decimal place, expressed as specific gravity, 25 °C/25 °C.
14.2 Report the density to the nearest third decimal place in g/cm3 and with four significant figures in kg/m3, expressed as density at 25 °C.
15. Precision and Bias
15.1 The following criteria shall be used for judging the acceptability of results (95 % probability):
15.1.1 Repeatability - Duplicate values by the same operator shall not be considered suspect unless they differ by more than the following:
Relative density: 0.011
Density: 0.007 g/cm3 or 7.0 kg/m3
15.1.2 Reproducibility - The values reported by each of two laboratories, representing the arithmetic average of duplicate determinations, shall not be considered suspect unless the reported values differ by more than the following:
Relative density: 0.001
Density: 0.011 g/cm3 or 11.0 kg/m3
15.1.3 Bias - The procedure for relative density has no bias because the value of relative density is defined only in terms of this test method.
